How To protect your Wooden Door.
By Christo Fouche
The sun can be one of the worst enemies of a wooden door or window. Whether it is African Hardwoods or just simple pine or Saligna. Even water will not damage your wooden door as much as the sun.
To protect your wooden door, you need to make sure that it is properly sealed. The method that I have used over many years with much success is as follows.
Paint your wooden door or wooden window with Woodoc 10. Use simple Steel wool and just scratch of the surface of the varnish. Now you take ordinary white floor polish and wax it well.
You
can repeat this process on your wooden doors and windows maybe once every year or two years, while you can wax it every two to three months or even on a more regular basis.
When you pass some houses and you see a really dry wooden door, do yourself a favor and have a close up look at it. You will see the door or window actually burst open, even if it is only small cracks. Once you give it a little sandpaper and repeat this process of waxing it, you might save it. But do not take the change with your wooden doors and windows.
Take good care of your wooden doors and windows, and they will give you many years of joy. They have the ability to outlive you, should you take care of it.
